Minimum RequirementsMinimum 5 years’ relevant experience.Have a Clean Criminal record.Ability to lead a diverse and multi-disciplinary team effectivelyAble to make operational and technical decisions that fall within the ambit of responsibility.Excellent Verbal/Written Communication skills.Ability to read/understand civil & engineering drawings. Must be able and willing to work flexible hours (Shifts, Overtime and Weekends).
Duties & ResponsibilitiesOperational Maintenance:Utilise the skill matrix to assess the applicability of assignments based on individual skill sets.Determine material, equipment, and suppliers to be used and ensure that these are ordered and available on site.Help plan and manage weekend tasks and projects.Use planned maintenance schedules to coordinate daily activities of G and B team.Responsible for all kinds of maintenance, repairs and modifications on buildings, structures and terrain as required by engineering.Planning and doing building work and renovations on buildings as required.People management – staff discipline, appraisals, training etc.Responsible for Health and safety and skills development.Maintain the integrity of the building team and carrying out corrective action if, and when required.Control and operate within set budgets.Manage housing estate ongoing requirements.Take leading role on audits compliance.Conduct inspections on planned jobs as per the job card schedule and sign off job once fully completed.Budgeting and Administration:Manage the maintenance spend against budget through daily review of budget vs. actual financial reports.Provide input to the Plant Engineer to cocreate/commit to appropriate engineering budget during annual budgeting process.Authorise stores requisitions and provide initial sign off of invoices prior to submission to Plant Engineer.Work with the Plant Engineer and Planner to ensure accurate reporting.Coordinate and sign off on the team’s submission of all required documentation to the Engineering Planner for inclusion in engineering information systems (On-key).Project ManagementProvide input to the Plant and Project Engineer on the feasibility of projects by analysing technology, resource needs and market demands to assure project feasibility.Work with Project Engineer to ensure the requirements of internal customers are met and to prepare accurate project specifications.Assist to smoothly implement projects on time and within the agreed budget. Take leading role on audits compliance.SHEQ ImplementationEnsure employees follow safety rules and regulations as per the Business’s safety plan, working at height protocol observation.Ensure plant safety equipment is always in good working order (e.g. fire extinguishers).Guide the team to ensure that all legislative standards are achieved, and timeous action is taken where required to ensure that there are no areas of noncompliance.Measure and manage sustainability practices within the plant area.Site inspections and environmental compliance (fence, roofs, spillages, and buildings in general, etc).Ladder inspections and ensure integrity compliance.Maintain and implement food safety standards.Team SupervisionSupervise the team personnel with regards to HR and IR issues.Manage the day to day activities and outputs of the engineering team.Train/mentor the team to improve performance & reduce down time.Plan and manage the leave roster and register for the team.
