Reports to Supervisor: Consolidation/Dispatch/Receiving/SDC

Summation Perform multifunctional activities within the warehouse environment. The activities are inclusive of order picking, cycle counting, scanning, data capturing, packing / binning, checking / packing, forklift handling, material controlling and stock controlling

Key Responsibilities

  • Sorting out outgoing parcels into hubs and routes as
    designated by the postal codes
    • Scanning of outgoing parcels into roll-tainers
    • Scanning of roll-tainers into mini-containers
    • Scanning of outgoing and incoming mini-containers
    • Downloading of scanned information into on-line computer
    • Tracing of missing shipment
    • Help with counting of all stocks where necessary
    • Create Postlink deliveries on the system
    • Do the vetting of Postlink and manual orders
    • Create and print transfer orders
    • Updating the parcel’s tracking system
    • Create orders on open transfer requirements and reservation
    • Count the orders plus the line items for statistics purposes
    • Submit daily statistics to the supervisor
    • Checking of requisitions for correctness of product numbers
    and unit of issue
    • Ensure completion of documentation relevant to the Material
    Distribution Centre
    • Picking of stock
    • Delivery of assembled orders to packaging area
    • packing of goods onto pallets for efficient storage
    • Binning of stock received from suppliers as well as returns
    from Post Offices
    • Recording of bin changes on bin location
    • Be in a position to differentiate obsolete, un-usable and reusable stock
    • Capture the information on the system ([email protected]) for
    returned stock and generate stock replacement slip
    • Check picking trolley against checking list
    • Pick all different stock throughout the warehouse
    • Submit daily statistics to supervisor
    • Monitor bin stock levels in picking area and request
    replenishment from bulk, if low
    • Transporting of stock at receiving and transporting to bulk
    • Collecting of stock from bulk storage and transporting to
    carton live storage
    Load and off load vehicles at receiving and dispatch docks
    • Receive stock from Postmasters directly and arrange with
    the Data Capturer to capture it on the system
    • Determine which of the stock can be re-used or should be
    • Prepare a SV2 document via the inventory management,
    to get approval from Finance
    • Receive face value items and delivery note from supplier
    • Give one copy to the stock controller and keep the other
    • Do the picking of the batches and prepare for
    • Check whether there are discrepancies on picking slip,
    check stock against consignment note
    • Check batch number, line items, address, material
    number, quantity and packed items
    • Open unmarked packages withdrawn from stock to verify
    • Conduct accurate reporting of surpluses and shortages to
    the picker
    • Check multi-page picking slips for corresponding
    • Sign approval and date on the picking
    document/consignment note
    • Consolidate the parcels after packing and hand them over
    to dispatch area (Speed Services)
    • Packaging of goods for safe passage to its destination
    • Check quantity and quality of items/goods being packed
    • Addressing of parcels by attaching/pasting address labels
    • Pack items with duplicate consignment note
    • Attach/pasting track and trace numbers to consignments
    • Hand over to speed services in order to scan the
    • Deliver the picking trolley to the battery charger every
    afternoon to be charged

Job Requirements/ Knowledge:

Qualification: Grade 10/12
Experience: 3 years relevant experience
2 years’ experience in stock control/material handling
1 year experience in SAP computer systems
• Must be prepared to work irregular hours
• Office bound
• Warehouse dusty and noisy
